This tool is dependent only on the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) and requires a rooted Android device. So it won't rely on any other installed tools on your developer machine or android device (e.g., Appium server, node, etc.).

Install the official Android Platform Tools from Google and add the path to platform-tools/adb via SELECT ADB button upon app launch. Download Platform Tools.
